Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska’s 2nd District has announced the nomination of 18 high school students from his district to U.S. military service academies. The announcement took place in Washington, where Bacon extended congratulations to the nominees and their families.

“Choosing to serve our country is one of the most profoundly honorable commitments a person can make, and these 18 young men and women have shown outstanding merit to receive nominations to our military academies,” said Rep. Bacon. “As they begin their journey toward military service, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to them, as well as their parents, family, and mentors who have helped them reach this milestone. Having spent nearly 30 years in the Air Force alongside dedicated Americans who defend our freedom, I am truly inspired to see this generation step forward with patriotism and devotion to America in applying to these academies. This is one of the most important responsibilities I have as a Congressman and one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. I’m grateful for these young folks willing to serve in our military and defend the greatest country in the world, our freedoms and way of life.”
