Omaha Baseball senior infielder Chase Diggins has been selected for the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, according to an announcement from the College Baseball Foundation. The Brooks Wallace Award is given annually to the top shortstop in college baseball and is named after former Texas Tech player Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders between 1977 and 1980 before his death from leukemia at age 27.
Diggins has started the season with a .318 batting average, recording 14 hits and five runs batted in over ten games.
The Omaha Mavericks are set to participate in the Gopher Tournament from March 6-8. Their schedule includes games against Southern Illinois on Friday at 3 p.m., Northwestern on Saturday at 3 p.m., and Minnesota on Sunday at 6 p.m.
