Creighton Baseball secured a 5-4 win over Tulane on March 15, completing a road sweep of the Green Wave. The game was decided in the top of the ninth inning when Creighton scored the go-ahead run.
The win brought Creighton’s record to an even 8-8, while Tulane dropped to 9-11 for the season. Early home runs by Nate McHugh and Isaac Wachsmann gave Creighton a quick lead, with Wachsmann adding an RBI single in the third inning. Tulane responded with runs in both the third and fourth innings, including a solo home run by Hugh Pinkney.
Tulane tied the game at four in the seventh inning after Kaikea Harrison hit a two-run home run. In the ninth, Teddy Deters doubled down the right field line and later scored on an error after Connor Capece’s ground ball, giving Creighton its final lead.
Relief pitcher Shea Wendt closed out the game without allowing a hit over the last five outs, earning his first win of the season. The team will next play Omaha at Charles Schwab Field Omaha on March 18 at 6:00 pm.
The victory marks another close contest for Creighton as they look to build momentum heading into their upcoming games.
