Creighton Baseball will start a three-game series against Tulane beginning March 13, as the Bluejays continue their spring break in Louisiana. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and Sunday at noon, with all matchups available on ESPN+ and Stat Broadcast.
This series is significant as it marks the first meeting between Creighton and Tulane since 2015, when Tulane won two out of three games. The Bluejays trail the Green Wave in the all-time series, 2-1. Both teams enter the weekend looking to improve their records; Creighton stands at 5-8 after a strong midweek performance against LSU, while Tulane holds a 9-8 record but has gone 1-4 in its last five games.
Probable pitching matchups feature Jack Pineau (RHP) for Creighton on Friday, who was recently named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after leading his team to a win over Gonzaga by allowing four hits over six scoreless innings. Pineau currently holds a season ERA of 3.60 with a record of 2-0. Ian Koosman (RHP) and Eli Nissen (LHP) are set to pitch for Creighton on Saturday and Sunday respectively, while Trey Cehajic (RHP) and Jack Frankel (RHP) are expected starters for Tulane.
The Bluejay pitching staff has shown improvement recently, posting a collective ERA of 3.83 over the last five games. However, offensive production has slowed with the team hitting .228 during that span. In contrast, Tulane is batting .252 as a team this season and is led by Jason Wachs (.359 average) and Matthias Haas (.305 average). The Green Wave’s pitching staff has recorded an ERA of 5.40 with 152 strikeouts in 140 innings.
Notably, Creighton’s coaching staff includes Mark Kingston and Billy Mohl, both of whom have ties to Tulane from previous coaching stints and playing careers. Kingston served as an assistant and associate head coach for the Green Wave from 2002-08, recruiting Mohl who played there from 2003-06. The pair later coached together at multiple programs before reuniting last season at Creighton.
As both teams look to gain momentum heading into conference play, fans can expect competitive matchups throughout the weekend.
