Creighton men’s tennis defeats Midland 6-1 on senior day

The Creighton men’s tennis team defeated Midland 6-1 on March 21 during its senior day match at the Koch Family Tennis Center.

The win brings Creighton’s record to 11-8 for the season, while Midland falls to 3-8. The match was highlighted by strong performances from seniors and underclassmen alike, as the Bluejays secured both doubles and singles victories.

Seniors Kirtan Patel and Yuma Daijima started doubles play with a 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot. Shortly after, senior Zachary Kuo and freshman Mathis Dahler clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles. In singles play, Dahler earned a quick win at No. 4 singles with a score of 6-0, 6-0, followed by Jack McMahon’s identical result at No. 6 singles to give Creighton a commanding lead.

Kuo secured the overall dual for Creighton with a straight sets victory (6-1, 6-3) at No. 3 singles, while Patel added another point with his own straight sets win (6-1, 6-2) at No. 2 singles. Daijima finished off the Bluejays’ scoring with a win at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-0). Midland’s only point came from Martin Cisneros, who rallied to defeat Lucas Mommessin in three sets (1-6, 6-3, 10-7) on the top singles court.

Looking ahead, Creighton will finish its regular season with six consecutive road matches beginning March 28 against Abilene Christian.
