The Creighton men’s tennis team lost to Omaha, 4-3, on March 20 at the Miracle Hills Tennis Center. The Bluejays’ season record moved to 10-8, while the Mavericks improved to 8-8 overall. An estimated 150 fans attended the match between the crosstown rivals.

Omaha secured the first point of the evening by winning at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions. Ethan Gaubert and Bryan Kuntz earned a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles, followed by Anthony Scheglowski and Liam Spiers with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. The top doubles match was left unfinished as Omaha clinched the doubles point.

In singles play, Omaha extended its lead with straight-set victories on courts two and five. Maddox Lundell won his match at No. 5 singles, while Spiers claimed victory at No. 2 singles, giving Omaha a commanding advantage.

Creighton’s Yuma Daijima put his team on the scoreboard with a three-set win at the top singles spot. However, Caleb Peterson of Omaha responded with a three-set victory on court six to secure the overall dual for the Mavericks.

Despite already trailing in points, Creighton finished strong with wins from Mathis Dahler and Rocky McKenzie in three sets on courts four and three respectively, narrowing the final margin to one point.

The Bluejays will conclude their home schedule against Midland for Senior Day at Koch Family Tennis Center.
