The Creighton Women’s Golf team finished in 12th place at the MSU SoCal Spring Invitational, which concluded on March 10 in Camarillo, California.
The tournament brought together 15 teams and 90 competitors at the Sterling Hills Golf Course, a par-71 layout measuring 5,900 yards. Nebraska secured the team title with a total score of 862, finishing ahead of Notre Dame and Cal State Northridge. Notre Dame’s Alexsandra Lapple won individual medalist honors with a two-shot victory over Nebraska’s Lauren Thiele.
Morgan Becker led Creighton with rounds of 79, 73, and 74 for a total score of 226, tying for 29th place. Katharine Marshall was among three Bluejays who tied for 42nd place after posting an overall score of 230. Kayla Maletto, competing as an individual, also finished with a total of 230 after consistent rounds throughout the event. Julia Karmazin matched Marshall and Maletto’s aggregate to share the same position on the leaderboard.
Other notable performances included Madison Murnan tying for 61st place with a total score of 235 and Karsen Morrison finishing in 90th place after three rounds totaling to a score of 267. Creighton’s team total was recorded as 921 (317-304-300), placing them ahead of BIG EAST newcomer Providence, which finished last among participating teams.
The Bluejays are scheduled to return to competition at the Bell Bank Pay It Forward Collegiate in Litchfield Park, Arizona on March 23-24.
