Creighton University’s women’s golf team set several new program records at the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate in Litchfield Park, Arizona, on March 24 and 25. The team achieved its best-ever aggregate score over 54 holes, broke the record for lowest team round, and saw an individual tie the program’s best single-round score.
The team’s performance marked a significant improvement from previous seasons. Creighton’s total of 874 across three rounds was twelve shots better than its prior modern-era record set in September 2022. The Bluejays posted scores of 291, 296, and a record-breaking 287 during the tournament.
Senior Morgan Becker began with a strong opening round of 69—one of the top scores in school history since 2003—and sophomore Julia Karmazin matched the all-time individual low with a third-round score of 67. Both Becker (69-73-72=214) and Karmazin (75-72-67=214) delivered performances that tied for third-best in Creighton’s history for a three-round event.
Other notable performances included junior Katharine Marshall finishing with a total score of 225 to tie for fifty-fourth place. Freshman Madison Murnan recorded her best collegiate finish with rounds of 75, 74, and 78 to place sixty-fifth overall. Sophomore Kayla Maletto ended sixty-ninth after improving her personal best with a final round of seventy-three.
The Bluejays finished tenth out of fourteen teams at Wigwam Resort’s Blue course. The University of South Florida won the team title by ten shots over Florida Gulf Coast University. Regina Plascencia from USF claimed medalist honors among eighty-two players.
Creighton will return to competition on April thirteen and fourteen at Stampede at the Creek hosted by The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn.
