The Creighton women’s tennis team defeated East Texas Baptist University with a 7-0 sweep on March 12 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. The win improved the Bluejays’ record to 11-4 for the season, while the Tigers dropped to 6-5.
This result highlights Creighton’s strong performance during its spring break trip and demonstrates the team’s momentum as it moves further into the season.
Creighton secured an early lead by winning all three doubles matches. Annika Elvestrom and Livia Rodrigues Daud posted a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Olivia Minikel and Sophie Schwartz won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Elsa Jurrens and Karli Vo also contributed with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Creighton continued its dominance by winning all six matches in straight sets. Alem Cote and Daud each recorded identical 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively. Teresa Tran clinched the overall dual with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, followed by Jurrens’ 6-1, 6-0 result at No. 6 singles and Minikel’s triumph at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-2). Schwartz closed out the day with a commanding performance at No.1 singles (6-1, 6-1).
Later that day, Creighton began another match against Calvin University and won the doubles point before rain forced an early end to play.
Looking ahead, Creighton will take two weeks off before hosting St. Thomas on March 28 at Hanscom Tennis Center.
