Omaha Men’s Basketball head coach Chris Crutchfield announced on Apr. 20 that guard Cahmai Crosby will join the Mavericks’ roster for the 2026-27 season.
Crosby comes to Omaha after spending one year at North Texas, where he played in all 33 games. He was second on his team with 25 made three-pointers, shooting 34.7 percent from beyond the arc. Crosby scored in double figures twice, including a season-high of 12 points by making four out of four three-point shots in a win over Houston Christian. He also contributed ten points in a road victory at UTSA and added seven points during another road win at Tulane.
Before his time at North Texas, Crosby played two seasons at Kilgore College. In the 2024-25 season, he earned First Team All-Region 14 honors by averaging nearly sixteen points per game along with more than four rebounds and three assists per contest. That same year, he made seventy-seven three-pointers—the forty-second most in National Junior College Athletic Association Division I—and scored twenty or more points ten times, including a season-high twenty-eight against Trinity Valley. As a freshman, Crosby averaged just under ten points per game and shot over forty-two percent from long range while helping Kilgore reach the Region Fourteen Tournament semifinal round.
Crutchfield said about Crosby: “Cahmai gives us a veteran guard that is strong and explosive. He can score at three levels and is an underrated defender. We recruited him out of junior college and glad he picked us after going into the portal. We are excited to get him to Omaha. Coach [Keenan] Holdman did an excellent job recruiting him.”
With this addition, Crosby becomes one of six confirmed newcomers for next year’s squad alongside transfers Deke Thompson and Heri Bukinga.
