Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district since 2017, posted a series of messages on his social media account on August 4, 2025, addressing ongoing international and domestic topics.
In a statement about the conflict in Gaza, Bacon wrote on August 4: “This war would end tomorrow if Hamas released the hostages they are starving & torturing. Israel and Int. community are bringing in food to Gaza but Hamas takes it from the people or targets those who deliver the food. Hamas started this war & refuses to make peace.”
Later that day, Bacon marked the anniversary of a U.S. military branch with another post: “Happy Birthday U.S. Coast Guard! Since 1790, the @USCG has played a critical role in keeping our nation’s waterways safe & patrolling our coasts for drug smugglers, human traffickers, and threats to our national security. We salute them for their service. Semper Paratus!” (August 4).
Bacon also shared information about his legislative work: “During the 119th Congress, I’ve maintained a 98.9% voting attendance record despite late-night sessions and some of the longest recorded votes in House history. I’ve only missed votes for critical reconciliation negotiations at the White House. I’m grateful to serve NE-02.” (August 4).
Rep. Don Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative in Congress since defeating Brad Ashford in 2017 and is known for his active participation in legislative sessions and high voting attendance rates. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, he graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later attended the University of Phoenix.
