Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of statements on his social media accounts addressing recent legislative and economic issues.
On September 30, 2025, Rep. Bacon wrote: “WATCH: I joined @CNN to discuss the looming Schumer & Jeffries shutdown, which many Democrats don’t realize only gives more power to the president. I also shared my thoughts about the SECDEF’s speech today.”
Later that day, he commented on rising coffee prices in the United States, stating: “Two-thirds of Americans drink coffee. With coffee prices up 21% and the fact the U.S. can’t grow coffee to a large, commercial scale, let’s remove the tariffs on coffee. It’s strictly a tax on American consumers.” This post comes amid broader discussions over inflation and commodity costs impacting American households.
On October 1, 2025, Rep. Bacon issued another statement regarding congressional proceedings: “My full statement after Democrat Leadership failed to pass a clean CR “
Rep. Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix and replaced Brad Ashford as representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district in 2017.
