Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on August 6, 2025, addressing leadership lessons from his military service, local education funding, and Medicaid work requirements.
In a post made at 15:55 UTC, Bacon reflected on his experience as an Air Force commander: “I commanded five different times in the Air Force. We learned that shooting the messenger who is bearing bad news does not work.”
Later that day at 17:01 UTC, Bacon highlighted recent developments in local education funding by quoting Dr. Skretta: “However, thanks to Congressman Don Bacon and Senator Deb Fischer, Dr. Skretta said those (promised local education) funds are flowing again.”
At 17:49 UTC, Bacon commented on opposition to Medicaid work requirements in Nebraska: “VERY creepy stuff. NE Dems protesting work requirements for HEALTHY adults WITHOUT children to get Medicaid benefits. It is a 20-hour work requirement and includes volunteering, looking for work and taking classes.”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
