Rep. Don Bacon, currently representing Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on August 9, 2025, highlighting local initiatives and sharing personal views on political ideology.
In a post from August 9, Bacon paid tribute to an American figure: “We salute this American hero. Our condolences to the Lovell family.” The tweet offered condolences to the Lovell family following their loss.
Later that day, Bacon addressed his political philosophy and critiqued opposing viewpoints by stating: “I am a traditional Reagan Republican & have proposed real solutions for balancing the budget that folks like you have no spine to accomplish. Isolationism, protectionism, price controls & anti-legal immigration resemble 1970’s Democratic views or those of 1930’s Republicans.”
On the evening of August 9, Bacon announced funding support for transportation improvements in Sarpy County: “Sarpy County to improve transportation safety for two Platteview schools. ‘The total project cost is $2.2M, w/ federal funds covering $1.4M. Sarpy County worked with Congressman Don Bacon to secure that Federal Funding.'”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and resides in Papillion. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he earned his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University and later graduated from the University of Phoenix.
