Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, announced on November 3 and 4, 2025, that he and several colleagues have developed a bipartisan approach to extend the Affordable Care Act’s Enhanced Premium Tax Credits.
In a post dated November 3, Bacon stated: “@RepTomSuozzi, @RepJeffHurd, @RepJoshG & I have identified a bipartisan path forward on the future of the ACA’s Enhanced Premium Tax Credits. Even in gridlock, Congress can find common ground to lower health care costs & get back to work for the American people. Read below “
He followed up with another message on November 4: “Most Republicans don’t want to see our constituents’ health insurance premiums skyrocket & want a smart agreement. @RepTomSuozzi, @RepJeffHurd, @RepJoshG & I agreed on a bipartisan framework for a 2-year extension, income caps phased out over $200K, & reforms to prevent fraud & https://t.co/l88i5hM0lq”
A third post made later that day included only a link: “https://t.co/guKFIBXRLP”.
The proposed framework aims at preventing significant increases in health insurance premiums by extending enhanced tax credits for two years while introducing an income cap phase-out above $200,000 and implementing measures designed to reduce fraud.
Don Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
