Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, shared several comments on X (formerly Twitter) on September 19, 2025, addressing topics ranging from media headlines to Russia’s actions in Eastern Europe.
In his first post at 12:51 UTC, Bacon remarked on a news article with humor: “The title of this article cracks me up.”
Shortly after, at 13:06 UTC, he cited an opinion from The Wall Street Journal regarding Russia’s motivations in Ukraine: “WSJ: ‘The real reason for Russia’s war on Ukraine is that a free, prosperous Ukraine would expose the disaster of Putin’s rule for the economic well-being of his own people.'”
Later that afternoon at 14:39 UTC, Bacon addressed recent Russian military activities in Eastern Europe and called for stronger U.S. leadership: “Russia violates Poland’s airspace with 19 drones, and now Estonia’s with MIG fighter jets. Putin perceives Trump’s responses thus far as weak and vacillating. The time is now for our President to stand strong with NATO and Ukraine.”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
