Representative Don Bacon, who has served Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently addressed several national and local issues on his social media account.
On October 17, 2025, Bacon commented on U.S. foreign policy regarding Russia and the Middle East. In his post, he stated, “President Trump has been brilliant on Israel, Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah. But Putin keeps bombing cities, hospitals, and murdering civilians while this administration hesitates. Bullies like Putin only understand strength. We must stand for freedom and start acting that way.”
Later the same day, Bacon expressed concern about religious and ethnic intolerance in the United States. He wrote on October 17: “No American should be fearful being public about their faith and ethnicity. America is better than this.”
On October 18, Bacon also congratulated a local sports team with the message: “Congrats on another NE Volleyball sweep!”
Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984 before furthering his education at the University of Phoenix.
Since entering Congress after replacing Brad Ashford in 2017, Bacon has frequently commented on both international affairs—such as ongoing conflicts involving Russia—and domestic issues including religious tolerance.
