Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted several statements on his social media account between August 27 and August 28, 2025, addressing both international affairs and personal commentary.

On August 27, Bacon shared a brief remark: “The baby was the result of a prickly affair.”

The following day, he commented on Soviet history by posting: “Stalin killed millions of his own people to include his top military and intelligence leadership. A real dumb guy.” This statement refers to Joseph Stalin’s purges during his rule over the Soviet Union.

Later on August 28, Bacon addressed current policy regarding Russia with the statement: “‘Two more weeks’ is not the right answer. The secondary sanctions should be put on Russia now.” His post suggests support for immediate implementation of additional sanctions against Russia.

Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, Bacon resides in Papillion and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
