Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, commented on legislative procedures, international hostage releases, and Russian President Vladimir Putin in a series of posts on October 13, 2025.

In a post made early that day, Bacon addressed the dynamics of Senate voting, stating, “These guys act like the average citizen knows nothing. It takes 60 votes to pass a bill in the Senate. The GOP has 53 votes and one votes no on everything. This means at least 7 or 8 of 47 Dems need to vote yes. Thus far, only 3 of 47 Dems are voting to keep the government open.” (October 13, 2025).

Later, Bacon celebrated an international development, writing, “A great day for all to celebrate. Twenty starving and tortured hostages are released after two years. Congrats to President Trump and his team, and also to Prime Minister Netanyahu and our Israeli allies.” (October 13, 2025).

In another post on the same day, Bacon commented on Russian leadership: “Don Bacon: ‘Putin is Desperate Cornered Rat.'” (October 13, 2025).

Don Bacon has served as a U.S. Representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, succeeding Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, is currently 59 years old, and resides in Papillion. Bacon holds a BA from Northern Illinois University and is also a graduate of the University of Phoenix.
