Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted several comments on his Twitter account on October 2, 2025, addressing recent developments in Congress and international affairs.
In one post from the morning of October 2, Bacon criticized Democratic members of Congress for their actions regarding a government shutdown: “Irony: 98% of the Congress’ Dems voted to shutdown the government and then Dems protest outside our office against the shutdown.” He highlighted what he saw as contradictory behavior by House Democrats during ongoing debates about federal funding.
Shortly afterward, Bacon commented on discussions surrounding a continuing resolution (CR) bill backed by Democrats. In his tweet at 13:22 UTC, he wrote: “The Dems are having to admit that their CR bill gave illegal aliens government provided healthcare after denying this for the past week. Speaker Johnson gives the media the page and paragraph number from the Dem’s bill.”
Later that day, Bacon shifted focus to foreign policy and U.S.-Russia relations amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine. At 14:21 UTC he stated: “I applaud the Trump Administration’s decision to provide critical intelligence to Ukraine so they can better strike valid military targets in Russia. Putin must realize he cannot win and this decision reinforces this point.”
Bacon has served as representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and now residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
