Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district, shared his thoughts on national security, bipartisanship, and international relations through a series of tweets on July 9, 2025.
In his first tweet at 15:28 UTC, Bacon emphasized the link between national security and agriculture by introducing the American Agricultural Security Act. He stated that “Our national security & AG industry are inextricably linked. There are only nine meals between civilization & total anarchy.” The act aims to address emerging threats to the food supply chain.
Later at 16:10 UTC, he reflected on governance principles established by the Founding Fathers. Bacon remarked that “The Founding Fathers built a Federal Government that forced consensus building to govern.” He warned against demonizing political opponents as it weakens society over time.
At 16:42 UTC, Bacon expressed support for Ukraine during an interview with Ukrainian television. He noted that “Ukraine embraces democratic values, while Russia seeks domination.” Emphasizing America’s role in supporting its allies, he reiterated standing with Ukraine.
Bacon has served Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and residing in Papillion now, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
