Rep. Don Bacon, a Republican representing Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted his legislative rankings and positions on key policy issues in a series of posts on October 30, 2025.
In one post, Bacon cited his standing among congressional peers: “Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., for example, has appeared at or near the top of both the University of Virginia’s Center for Effective Lawmaking scorecard and The Lugar Center-McCourt School Bipartisan Index.” (October 30, 2025).
Addressing healthcare negotiations and government operations later that day, he wrote: “There’s a bipartisan path forward on ACA tax credits. Most Republicans are ready to negotiate. We support income caps & reforms to make health care affordable & improve care. Let’s reopen the government so government employees and SNAP recipients don’t pay the price.” (October 30, 2025).
Bacon also commented on U.S. defense policy regarding troop deployments in Europe: “The SECDEF’s decision to pull U.S. troops from Romania sends a terrible message to NATO and Ukraine…and a welcome one to Putin. Deterrence matters. Weak signals from this Administration only embolden our adversaries.” (October 30, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford and resides in Papillion. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
