Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing legislative initiatives and personal encounters related to health policy and advocacy.
On July 23, 2025, Bacon announced the introduction of new legislation aimed at supporting organ donors. In his tweet he stated, “Today I introduced the Living Donor Protection Act with @RepJerryNadler to remove barriers for organ donation. When it comes to saving lives, there’s no room for partisan politics. Together, we’re fighting for donors and recipients alike.”
Later that same day, Bacon shared a personal story that influenced his legislative work on cancer research involving intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) crews. He wrote, “I met a constituent who was dying from cancer a few months back, and it inspired my amendment on the ICBM cancer study. He was terminal and had strong beliefs that the ICBM crews were dying of cancer at a higher rate and at younger ages than the population at large.” This post highlights how direct interactions with constituents can impact congressional action.
On July 24, 2025, Bacon made another post about abortion issues: “Not a clump of cells, but a human being.”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford in Congress. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
