Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district, has been active on social media discussing various topics of national interest. Bacon, who took office in 2017 after replacing Brad Ashford, often shares his views on economic policies and historical perspectives.
On June 18, 2025, Rep. Bacon highlighted an analysis by the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) regarding tax policy. He stated that “The CEA calculates how investment, GDP, and wages increase in response to lower effective tax rates (lower statutory rates, bigger deduction for pass-through businesses, and full expensing that businesses will enjoy on new equipment, R&D, and factories) using standard academic” methods.
The following day, June 19, he referenced a biblical verse with the tweet “It is Genesis 12:3.” This reference may suggest a reflection on moral or ethical considerations within his political discourse.
Later that day, Bacon commented on historical military figures by stating “General Bragg from the Confederacy was a terrible general (one of the worst in our 249 year history) who violated his oath to the Constitution and fought against his country. We should honor those who deserve it.” This statement reflects his stance on how historical figures are remembered and honored.
Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and now residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 with a BA and furthered his education at the University of Phoenix.
