Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Nebraska’s 2nd district, posted a series of updates on October 3, 2025, addressing topics ranging from educational support initiatives to ongoing international crises and domestic political disputes.
In his first post of the day, Bacon highlighted his participation in an event supporting college students: “This week I spoke at an event for the Barrientos Scholarship Fund Student Success Program on the qualities of effective leadership. The SSP is a program designed for first-generation college students who are seeking to make an impact in their communities.” (October 3, 2025)
Later that evening, he shared remarks attributed to Rep. Jared Golden regarding the ongoing government shutdown: “Straight from the mouth of my friend, @RepGolden (D): ‘This government shutdown is the result of hardball politics driven by the demands far-left groups are making for Democratic Party leaders to put on a show of their opposition to President Trump. The shutdown is hurting'” (October 3, 2025)
In a subsequent tweet, Bacon commented on efforts to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas: “I sure hope the 48 remaining hostages, alive and dead, that are being savagely held by Hamas will be released very soon. President Trump has given a strong effort to get this done.” (October 3, 2025)
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later earned another degree from the University of Phoenix.
