U.S. Congressman Don Bacon, representing Nebraska’s 2nd district, addressed topics ranging from international conflict to state taxation and biomedical research in a series of tweets posted on August 19 and 20, 2025.
On August 19, Bacon commented on the ongoing conflict involving Russia and Ukraine. He stated, “This guy is as dumb (a box of rocks) as his twin brother. Putin is the invader and is the one bombing cities. Yes, it started during Biden’s term, but continues under Trump’s Presidency. You lack moral clarity.”
The following day, Bacon discussed demographic differences between California and Nebraska in relation to property taxes. On August 20 he wrote, “California has 58 counties with 40 million people. Nebraska has 93 counties with 2 million people. This is a factor when it comes to our NE property taxes.”
Later that day, Bacon expressed gratitude for a meeting with several Nebraska organizations involved in biomedical research. He tweeted on August 20: “Thanks @NebraskaCures, @UNMC, @Creighton, and @BoysTown for meeting! Omaha is a hub for bio-medical research that transforms lives. Investing in federally funded science is essential for real-world solutions and innovation. Let’s keep it going!”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district since replacing Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
