Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on November 13, 2025, addressing tariffs, military funding for Offutt Air Force Base, and bipartisan legislative efforts.
In his first tweet at 17:13 UTC, Bacon commented on the historical effectiveness of tariffs: “Other than countering unfair trade practices from other countries, tariffs have a long history of not working. Most Republicans have opposed broad tariffs since the 1930s. Tariffs especially don’t make sense when put on products we don’t grow, like coffee.”
Shortly after, at 17:15 UTC, he highlighted recent federal funding secured for a key military installation: “Our team along with @SenatorFischer & @USRepMikeFlood, secured over $54M for Offutt AF Base in the Military Construction Appropriations bill passed last night. These funds are critical to the continued improvement & operations of the base & greater Omaha community.”
Later that day at 17:30 UTC, Bacon thanked radio host Tom Becka for discussing bipartisan policy proposals: “Thank you @TomBecka for having me on to talk about our bipartisan framework that extends and reforms the COVID-era ACA tax credits, tariffs, immigration, and more.”
Bacon has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after replacing Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. His educational background includes degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
