Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets between March 20 and March 21, 2026, addressing legislative efforts and sharing personal anecdotes.
On March 20, Bacon announced his involvement in reintroducing bipartisan legislation to benefit AmeriCorps volunteers. He wrote, “I’m pleased to join @RepJohnLarson in reintroducing the bipartisan Segal AmeriCorps Education Award Tax Relief Act to ensure AmeriCorps volunteers receive the full value of the education benefit they earn through service.”
Later that evening on March 21, Bacon posted a brief message with a regional hashtag: “Lighten up cowboy. #NebraskaNice”
In a subsequent tweet the same night, Bacon recounted an experience from his time in Baghdad: “When I was in Baghdad, there was a Chuck Norris wall at the airport with the best joke quotes. They were fun to read. I gave two of my favorites tonight. There’s many more.”
Bacon has served as the U.S. Representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and continues to serve in that capacity (https://bacon.house.gov/about). He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
