Rep. Don Bacon, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently shared his views on several topics via social media. Born in Momence, Illinois, and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon is known for his straightforward communication style.
On July 3, 2025, Rep. Bacon expressed support for helping individuals transition from Medicaid to employer-provided healthcare. He stated that the proposed work requirements are minimal, involving “20-hours a week of work, looking for work, volunteering or taking classes.” According to Bacon, “72% of Americans support these work requirements.” The full post can be viewed here.
Later that day, Bacon criticized an individual named Sortor with a tweet describing them as having “zero moral compass” and likening them to “a box of rocks.” The complete statement is available here.
In another tweet posted on the same day, Bacon addressed Minority Leader Jeffries’ criticism of expanding State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions from $10,000 to $40,000 during Reconciliation. Bacon pointed out that despite Jeffries’ current opposition to the SALT Cap, “when the Dems controlled the White House, Senate and House they did nothing.” He concluded by asserting that “The SALT fix is good.” This commentary can be accessed here.
Don Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 with a BA and furthered his education at the University of Phoenix.
