Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, expressed his views on various international and domestic issues through a series of tweets on June 17, 2025.
In a post from early morning, Bacon emphasized his stance on the composition of the G7 forum. He asserted that “Keep the G7 the G7 and not the G8. Russia should not be a part of this Forum until it stops its invasion of Ukraine and pulls out of areas it occupies. War criminal Putin deserves to be ostracized.” The statement reflects ongoing geopolitical tensions and Bacon’s firm position against Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
Later that day, Bacon addressed domestic policy concerns by criticizing a Democrat-affiliated group named “Unrig Our Economy.” In his tweet, he stated that “The ‘Unrig Our Economy’ is a Democrat proxy group that opposes Medicaid work requirements for healthy adults without young children. They oppose a 20 hour per week work requirement that includes volunteering, classes & looking for work. 72% of Americans like work requirements.” This highlights his support for implementing work requirements as part of Medicaid policies.
In another tweet posted shortly after, Bacon called attention to religious violence in Nigeria. He insisted that “Nigeria must do more to protect its Christian population and hold these terrorists accountable. The murdering of Christians in Nigeria is a reoccurring travesty.” This comment underscores concerns about human rights and religious freedoms abroad.
Bacon has been an active member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he resides in Papillion and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
