Omaha Hockey freshman forward Jérémy Loranger has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Rookie of the Month for February, according to an announcement from the league on Tuesday.
This is Loranger’s first career NCHC monthly honor. He led all NCHC freshmen in scoring during February. Loranger began the month by scoring a goal against then-No. 8 Denver Pioneers on February 14. He continued his strong performance with two more goals in a series at Arizona State, marking three consecutive games with a goal. On February 21, he contributed to all three Maverick goals in that game, recording one goal and two assists.
Loranger ended the month with two assists against Miami (Ohio) on February 27. Over five games in February, he totaled seven points with three goals and four assists.
Omaha Hockey is set to play in the NCHC Quarterfinals against North Dakota at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Fans can listen live on 1290 KOIL or the Varsity Network, and both games will be streamed on NCHC.tv.
