Omaha men’s and women’s diving teams competed at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in College Station, Texas, on March 9 and 10. Freshman Nathan Frette made program history by becoming the first Omaha diver to qualify for a final at this event.
Frette posted a score of 284.65 in the 3-meter preliminary round and finished with a total score of 574.05 after the final. He continued his strong performance on the second day by advancing to the 1-meter final as well.
Sophomore Owen Kipp, who was named the 2026 Summit League Diving Championship MVP and won the 1-meter title at that meet, also qualified for the 1-meter final alongside Frette. Other Omaha divers competing in the preliminaries included junior Will Mueller, freshman Stone Larson, and sophomore Ava Snyder.
Diving coach Eric Sprague said, “This was a positive way to finish what I would consider our most successful season yet. We usually have a diver or two make this meet and to show up with five divers this week was a great accomplishment. Ava Snyder, Will Mueller, Owen Kipp, Stone Larson and Nathan Frette managed the stress of the environment well and showed we are still a program on the rise. I thought we would be in position to get someone in finals for the first time ever at this meet and I was so happy to see Owen make it on one meter and Nathan do it on both boards. I feel like this crew is breaking down barriers and setting new standards for us on a regular basis.”
Sprague continued, “They’re a motivated group that wants to accomplish the biggest goals and with the lessons we learned this week I know they’ll grow from it and continue to push the boundaries. It’s time to take a step back as the school year comes to an end to get everyone a little healthier, focus on some finer details and work for more consistency as we prepare for next season. We appreciate everyone’s support and look forward to continuing the advancement of the Omaha swim and dive team.”
