Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently made several posts on social media regarding international and domestic issues. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, Bacon has been an active political figure after replacing Brad Ashford in Congress.
On June 16, 2025, Rep. Don Bacon announced that he had joined a letter urging President Biden to collaborate with European allies to trigger the sanctions snapback mechanism against Iran by July. “Last week I joined a letter urging @POTUS to work with our European allies to invoke the sanctions snapback mechanism by July ahead of October’s deadline for Iran sanctions,” he stated. He emphasized the need for complete dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear program as he believes “the regime only responds to resolve.”
Later that day, Bacon shared a light-hearted tweet about his namesake food item. “Bacon goes great on fries!” was posted at 20:53 UTC.
The following day on June 17, Bacon expressed gratitude towards fellow representatives Schneider, Panetta, and Nunn for hosting him during discussions with Bahrain officials. “Thank you for hosting @RepSchneider, @RepJimmyPanetta, @RepZachNunn and myself,” he wrote at 04:03 UTC. He highlighted that Bahrain and the United States are not only strategic defense allies but also economic partners.
As a congressman who graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 and furthered his education at the University of Phoenix, Rep. Don Bacon continues to play an influential role in both local and international matters.
