Omaha Baseball received both of the Summit League’s Kwik Star weekly awards, according to a March 17 announcement from the league. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Tanner Foertsch and junior outfielder and left-hander Hayden Lewis were each recognized for their performances.
The recognition highlights recent achievements by Omaha players in the Summit League, with both athletes contributing significantly during games against North Dakota State.
Foertsch was named the Summit League Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week after his performance in game two of a doubleheader on March 14 at Tal Anderson Field. He pitched seven scoreless innings, allowed only three hits, and struck out nine batters over 24 faced to secure the win for Omaha.
Lewis earned the Summit League Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week award after leading Omaha offensively during their sweep of North Dakota State University. Over the weekend series, he drove in six runs, including a game-winning double in game one and decisive runs in the second game to complete the sweep.
After a midweek matchup at Creighton on March 18, Omaha is scheduled to return to Tal Anderson Field from March 20-22 for a Summit League series against Northern Colorado. All three games will be available via streaming on the Summit League Network.
