Omaha Baseball will travel to Lincoln for an in-state game against Nebraska on Tuesday, March 3, at 1:30 p.m. CT. The Mavericks currently have a record of 4-6, while Nebraska stands at 5-5.
Last weekend, Omaha faced Wichita State in a four-game series and finished with a 15-8 win on Saturday, February 28. In that game, Omaha scored nine runs over the final three innings to secure the victory.
Cardel Dick contributed significantly by going 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs during Saturday’s game. Over the two-day stretch from February 27 to 28, Dick recorded four hits in ten at-bats, five RBIs, and four runs scored. His performance raised his batting average to .357 and he leads the team with a 1.403 OPS and .929 slugging percentage.
Pitcher Nate Moquin secured his third save of the season in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader by pitching three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three batters. Moquin currently leads the Summit League in saves.
Maddox Meyer was named Summit League Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week on February 24 after throwing six innings on February 26 against Wichita State. He allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out four batters, lowering his ERA to 1.50.
Among position players, Jackson Trout leads Omaha with a .385 batting average, totaling 15 hits and eight RBIs so far this season. Tyler Bishop has also driven in eight runs for the team. Chase Diggins is second in hits with fourteen and holds a .318 batting average through ten games.
After facing Nebraska midweek, Omaha will participate in the Gopher Tournament from March 6 to March 8 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The Mavericks will play Southern Illinois on Friday at 3 p.m., Northwestern on Saturday at 3 p.m., and Minnesota on Sunday at 6 p.m.
