Omaha Baseball will open its home schedule and begin Summit League play by hosting North Dakota State from March 13 to 14 at Tal Anderson Field in Omaha. The Mavericks, currently holding a record of 4-10, will face the defending Summit League champions, who are 2-14 this season. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m., with a doubleheader set for Saturday starting at 1 p.m. All games will be streamed on the Summit League Network.
This series marks the start of conference competition for Omaha and provides an opportunity for the team to improve its standing early in league play. The Mavericks will also play Maine at home on Monday afternoon, with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
Several Omaha players are leading the conference in key statistical categories. Jackson Trout leads the team with a .455 batting average, totaling 25 hits and driving in 11 runs. Trout also tops the Summit League in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, OPS, hits, and doubles. Nationally, he ranks among the top thirty players in batting average.
Tyler Bishop has contributed twelve hits so far this season—including two doubles, two triples, and a home run—and has driven in ten runs. His two triples lead all players in the conference. Chase Diggins has added sixteen hits and seven RBI across thirteen games.
On the pitching side, right-hander Nate Moquin leads the league with three saves this season. Maddox Meyer was named Summit League Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week on February 24 and was recently included on the Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List by the College Baseball Foundation as announced March 11. Meyer holds a 4.40 ERA over four appearances this year with fifteen strikeouts; his performance on February 17 included ten strikeouts over six scoreless innings.
Looking ahead, Omaha will travel to Creighton for a game on March 18 before returning home to host Northern Colorado from March 20 to March 22.
