Omaha Baseball is set to face Creighton at Charles Schwab Field Omaha on March 24, with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
The Mavericks enter the matchup with an overall record of 8-13 after a three-game series against Northern Colorado at Tal Anderson Field, where they won one game and lost two. Their victory came in dramatic fashion when Chase Diggins hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning, giving Omaha a 12-11 win on Saturday, March 21.
During that win, every starter from Omaha recorded at least one hit. Diggins, Edoardo Cornelli, Henry Zipay, and Brody Sexton each had three hits in the game. Home runs were recorded by Jackson Trout, Cornelli, and Tyler Bishop. In Sunday’s series finale—which also went into extra innings—four Mavericks had multiple hits: Trout went two-for-four with his team-leading twelfth double; Zipay, Bishop and Hayden Lewis each contributed two hits as well.
Through seven weeks of play this season, Jackson Trout has been leading Omaha’s offense with a .410 batting average along with team-highs in both hits (34) and doubles (12). He currently leads the Summit League in these categories as well as slugging percentage (.590) and on-base percentage (.474), while also ranking among the top thirty players nationally for batting average.
Looking ahead after their meeting with Creighton, Omaha will travel to St. Paul to take on St. Thomas from March 27 through March 29 at Koch Diamond. All games of that series will be streamed via the Summit League Network.
