Omaha defeated St. Thomas 11-7 in a Summit League baseball game on March 29, led by Henry Zipay’s four hits, including his first home run of the season.

The result allowed Omaha to claim the rubber game of the three-game weekend series. The Mavericks never trailed but had to withstand a ninth-inning rally from the Tommies before securing the win. Starting pitcher Sam Beck improved his record to 2-0 as Omaha (10-15, 6-3) collected a total of 15 hits.

Omaha took an early lead with an RBI double from Tyler Bishop and a groundout by Nick Riggs that brought in another run. In the fourth inning, Zipay hit an RBI single and Jackson Trout followed with a two-run single to extend Omaha’s lead to 5-1 over St. Thomas (5-21, 2-6).

Zipay sparked another rally in the sixth inning with his solo home run, followed by an RBI single from Bishop and a double from Cardel Dick that drove in another run. Zipay went 4 for 5 with four RBIs and extended both his hitting streak to twelve games and reached-base streak to seventeen games. Three other Mavericks recorded multiple hits: Bishop went 3 for 6 with two RBIs, Trout was 2 for 5, and Drew Borner finished at 2 for 4.

Looking ahead, Omaha will conclude its seven-game road stretch with a three-game series at South Dakota State from April 2 through April 4 before returning home on April 10 to play Oral Roberts at Tal Anderson Field.
