The Omaha men’s tennis team defeated Marquette 7-0 in a nonconference road match on March 27. The Mavericks improved their record to 9-9, while the Golden Eagles fell to 4-14.

This win marks the seventh consecutive victory for Omaha over Marquette. The Mavericks also achieved their fifth sweep of the season.

Junior Christian Trevey secured the overall match win for Omaha at No. 3 singles, coming back from a first-set loss to defeat Clayton Anderson in three sets. Graduate student Liam Spiers opened singles play with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, winning against Kristian Blagoev.

In doubles competition, Omaha’s top two pairs recorded quick wins to start the match. Bryan Kuntz and Pavan Uppu won their No. 1 doubles match by a score of 6-2, while Spiers and freshman Anthony Scheglowski claimed a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

Omaha has previously swept Midland (Feb. 7), Chicago State (March 6), and twice at Nicholls State (March 15) this season.

Looking ahead, the Mavericks will continue their road trip with a matchup against Division III Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday, March 29.
