Omaha men’s tennis wins doubleheader against Nicholls State on March 15

The Omaha Men’s Tennis team won both matches in a doubleheader against Nicholls State on March 15, losing only one match throughout the day.

The results highlight a strong performance by the Mavericks, who improved their season record to 7-8. The first match ended with a 7-0 sweep for Omaha, while the second concluded with a 4-0 victory over Nicholls State, whose record moved to 4-6.

Junior Christian Trevey played an important role in both singles and doubles. In singles play, Trevey secured two victories: he defeated Felipe Spagnuolo in the No. 2 spot during the first match (7-5, 6-4) and was leading Marcell Marki in the No. 1 spot during the second match when Marki retired (6-1, 1-0). Trevey also partnered with Kristian Thomas in doubles at the No. 3 position for both matches, winning their sets 6-3 and 6-2 respectively.

Other notable performances included Bryan Kuntz’s win over Marcell Marki (6-3, 6-4), Liam Spiers’ straight-set victory against Arthur Vusberg Manzano Oliani (6-1, 6-0), and Maddox Lundell’s dominant showing over Mateo De Los Santos (6-1, 6-1) in the first match. In doubles play during Match One, Anthony Scheglowski and Liam Spiers won their set at No. 2 (6-4).

The Mavericks are scheduled to return home for their next match against Creighton at 7 p.m. Central Time on Friday, March 20.
