Omaha Men’s Tennis earned its first conference victory of the season with a 5-2 win against North Dakota on April 3. The match took place in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and marked an important milestone for the Mavericks under second-year head coach Hunter Clark.

The win is significant as it brings Omaha’s record to 11-9 overall and 1-1 in Summit League play, surpassing last season’s total number of wins. This performance demonstrates progress for the team and highlights their resilience after losing the doubles point early in the match.

Redshirt sophomore Pavan Uppu secured the deciding point for Omaha by defeating Christos Alex in three sets during the No. 5 singles match. Freshman Maddox Lundell also contributed with a three-set victory at No. 4 singles, marking his team-leading thirteenth singles win this spring.

Clark said, “Could not be prouder of these guys. This was a gritty win on the road. The way they all responded after losing the doubles point showed me how tough this group is.” Other singles victories came from Bryan Kuntz, Christian Trevey, and Kaden Taylor.

The Mavericks are scheduled to play their final nonconference game of the season against Kearney on Wednesday, April 8.

Looking ahead, Omaha will aim to build on this momentum as they continue their conference schedule.
