Omaha Men’s Tennis players Liam Spiers and Anthony Scheglowski received both Kwik Star Summit League weekly awards, according to a March 24 announcement from the league.

The recognition highlights the team’s recent performances, as they became the only team this season to sweep the weekly honors in back-to-back weeks. This achievement underscores their strong showing in both singles and doubles competitions.

Spiers, a graduate student from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was named Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week after winning his No. 2 singles match against Creighton’s Kirtan Patel with scores of 6-4, 6-4. Omaha secured a narrow 4-3 victory over their cross-town rival during that match. Later in the week, Spiers defeated Oral Roberts’ Luis Marcos Bonifasi in straight sets (7-6 (4), 6-4), earning his first Summit League win of the season. This marks Spiers’ second time receiving this award during the current season.

In doubles play, Spiers partnered with freshman Anthony Scheglowski from Lakeville, Minnesota. The pair clinched Omaha’s doubles point against Creighton with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles and followed up with another victory (6-3) at Oral Roberts in the same position. This is also their second consecutive week winning the doubles award.

This continued success places Omaha Men’s Tennis among notable performers within their conference for this season.
