Omaha Softball will host No. 1 Nebraska on April 21 at Connie Claussen Field, marking the highest-ranked opponent ever to play at the venue. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start and will be streamed on the Summit League Network and broadcast in-state by Nebraska Public Media.
The matchup is expected to draw a record crowd, with Omaha likely to surpass its previous attendance high of 1,537 fans set during last season’s meeting with Nebraska. So far this year, Omaha has welcomed a total of 8,386 fans over ten home games—the largest cumulative attendance in program history.
The Mavericks enter the contest after sweeping South Dakota State in three games and achieving a perfect home record in Summit League play under head coach Mike Heard for the first time. In their most recent outing against South Dakota State, Katherine Johnson and Emma Durr each hit home runs as Omaha secured a 5-1 victory on Senior Day. Maddia Groff pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts during that game.
Historically, Omaha holds a 9-23 record against Nebraska but last defeated them on March 20, 2024, with a score of 5-2 in Lincoln. Since then, Nebraska has won three straight games against the Mavericks.
Following Tuesday’s game against Nebraska, Omaha will continue conference play with a two-game series at North Dakota starting April 23.
