Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, has addressed concerns about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and recent political discourse through a series of posts on December 11, 2025.
In his first post at 15:22 UTC, Bacon advocated for an interim extension with reforms to the ACA tax credits. He stated, “We need an interim extension with reforms so we can focus on bigger fixes to the unaffordable ACA. I won’t sit idly by while premiums increase by $2K a month. Thanks @BretBaier for having @RepTomSuozzi & me on to discuss our bipartisan bill to extend & reform the ACA tax credits.”
Shortly after, at 15:36 UTC, Bacon posted a link without additional comment: https://t.co/DuiiCzw2Db.
In another tweet at 15:38 UTC, Bacon quoted himself in response to political communication tactics: “‘It’s not necessary,’ said GOP Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska, who is retiring next year after winning five elections in one of the most competitive House districts. ‘If that’s what it takes to get your point across, you’re not a good communicator.'”
Bacon’s public comments come as he prepares for retirement following five terms in office in one of the nation’s most competitive congressional districts. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University and later from the University of Phoenix. He succeeded Brad Ashford when he began serving Nebraska’s 2nd district.
