Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently addressed several legislative issues on his Twitter account, including immigration policy, tax credits, and Social Security reform.
On July 21, 2025, Bacon posted about the importance of bipartisan efforts in immigration legislation: “A lasting immigration policy needs to come from Congress and must be as bipartisan as possible if you want to make it permanent.”
Later that evening, he commented on recent legislative measures affecting tax policy: “The reconciliation bill also prevented the child tax credit from being cut in half and included the important provisions of no tax on tips and overtime.”
On July 22, Bacon discussed challenges surrounding Social Security and national debt reforms: “There are different things we can do to address Social Security and the national debt, but no one wants to talk about it. I have brought it up, but many people are fearful to fix this issue.”
Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later attended the University of Phoenix.
