Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of national and international issues in a series of posts on October 10, 2025.
In one post, Bacon commented on recent developments in the Middle East: “President Trump deserves credit for helping broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. But the real test will be whether Hamas keeps its word and releases the hostages. Hamas would rather die than make peace with Israel.” (October 10, 2025).
Later that day, Bacon expressed appreciation for diplomatic engagement with Mexico: “I thank the Ambassador of Mexico to the U.S., Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, for hosting me. We had productive discussions on trade, border security and how we can best work together to defeat the drug cartels.” (October 10, 2025).
Addressing domestic policy, Bacon also discussed congressional efforts regarding government funding: “99% of Republicans voted to keep the government open. 98% of Democrats voted no. The clean bipartisan CR mirrors spending levels they supported 13 times under Pres. Biden. Let’s reopen the government and work together to protect middle & low-income families from rising premiums.” (October 10, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and is currently serving in Congress. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
