Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently shared his thoughts on various topics through social media posts. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon has been an advocate for several issues during his tenure.
On June 20, 2025, Rep. Bacon tweeted about his participation at the #NFYIShadowDay Luncheon where he discussed his dedication to foster care. As a foster-to-adopt parent himself, he emphasized that “every child deserves a safe & loving home” and expressed his commitment to policies aimed at improving the lives of children within the foster care system.
In another post on the same day, Rep. Bacon commended a book detailing military operations near Pakistan which he described as “an absolutely superb book.” He noted that these outposts were “indefensible and always vulnerable,” leading to significant American losses. Bacon praised Jake Tapper for the work and suggested it deserved Pulitzer recognition.
Additionally, Rep. Bacon addressed historical figures associated with military bases in a tweet posted later that day. He stated that “Jim Crow was not a reconciliation measure” and advocated for honoring universally respected heroes like Eisenhower and Hal Moore instead of Bragg, whom he referred to as “historically one of the worst generals in our 249 year history.”
