Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, addressed recent legislative developments and national political concerns in a series of posts on October 4, 2025.

In one post, Bacon commented on efforts to prevent a government shutdown, stating: “.@HouseGOP passed a bipartisan clean CR to prevent a shutdown. For decades we haven’t shut down over a clean CR. Most Republicans are ready to negotiate ACA subsidies. Let’s reopen the government and ensure middle & low-income families don’t see their premiums skyrocket.” (October 4, 2025)

Later that day, he referenced an interview published by The Wall Street Journal: “WSJ: How Politics Became a Legal Battlefield: @JamesTaranto interviews George Terwilliger III

Lawfare undermines our Constitutional Republic and it escalates with each Administration. We need more wisdom and restraint… for the good of the Republic.” (October 4, 2025)

In another statement regarding legislative proposals affecting healthcare funding, Bacon wrote: “The Senate Dem’s CR package would remove the $50B funding for the Rural Hospitals.” (October 4, 2025)

Don Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
