Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several national issues on his official Twitter account, focusing on the government shutdown, military priorities, and transparency in governance.

On November 16, 2025, Bacon commented on the recent government shutdown: “Regardless of the polling, the reality is that the whole country came out behind because of the shutdown. It was unnecessary and it hurt millions.”

Later that day, he turned his attention to defense policy: “One of the biggest priorities needed from the Army is air defense. This is a mission for the Army and we know in any war with Russia or China that they’ll conduct massive air, missile and drone attacks first.” This statement comes amid ongoing discussions about U.S. military readiness in response to potential threats from global powers.

In another post dated November 17, 2025, Bacon supported a decision related to governmental transparency: “It is a wise decision to reverse course here. Transparency and sunlight are best.”

Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
