Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on November 8, 2025, addressing issues ranging from the ongoing government shutdown to U.S. national security interests and military leadership.
In a post published at 02:23 UTC, Bacon highlighted calls from several organizations for Senate Democrats to take action on the government shutdown: “The U.S. Chamber of Commerce joins the Air Traffic Controllers Association and the largest federal employee union in calling on Senate Democrats to pass the bipartisan clean CR and end the government shutdown.”
Later that day, at 18:15 UTC, Bacon shared his engagement with members of Nebraska’s Ukrainian community and expressed support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia: “Great to meet so many Ukrainians & Ukrainian-Americans who live in Nebraska last night. A Ukrainian victory will be a victory for freedom & defeat of a brutal invader. It’s in our NatSec interests that Ukraine prevails. The Russian bully only learns after getting a big black eye.”
At 20:34 UTC, Bacon commented on the authority of the Secretary of Defense regarding military leadership dismissals: “SECDEF may have the right to fire many generals & admirals without explanation. But it doesn’t make it right. History will not look kindly at how he treated people who spent 3 to 4 decades serving their country, many who spent many combat tours in Iraq & Afghanistan.”
Bacon has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after replacing Brad Ashford and is currently based in Papillion, Nebraska. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
